The following information was abstracted from
"Index to Probate Cases of Texas, No. 94,
Guadalupe County, March 22 1846 - August 11, 1939",
which was prepared by the Texas Statewide Records Project,
Works Progress Administration (WPA), July 1941
In the Preface to the Index it is stated that "In Guadalupe County all probate
records are in the custody of the County Clerk.
Case papers are filed from 1846 to 1894 are arranged in 36 file drawers
alphabetically by names of principals. Cases filed from
1894 to August 1939 are arranged in 68 file drawers, numerically by case numbers
. The Index is arranged alphabetically, and Craig Smith has abstracted the names
by chronological periods.
These pages were prepared for the internet by Wanda Qualls.
** - Please note: I went to the Court House in Seguin and found that you will
need the case number because the old ledgers that tells the page numbers are upstairs
and the books to look in are in the basement. There were no drawers or file cabinets.
If they are busy then you will need to find the pages and make a list of what you want
copied and leave this list and your name, address and phone number so they can let you
know when the copies are ready. Wanda Qualls
