Memories for my Children, Through the Years

Ida Clara Junck and William Franklin Robinson were married in her parents' home, next door to the Swedish Methodist Church, at the entrance of the Nortwest Capitol gate, in Austin, Texas on April 4, 1904. It was a small wedding, with Ida's parents, her four sisters and one brother, the groom's mother, Emma Rosalie (Chisholm) Robinson, a few close friends and the minister, the Reverend A. G. Smoot. After refreshments were served, the newlyweds were driven to their new home in Austin, to start married life. [The groom's father died when Wm. Frank was six years old]. William Franklin (Frank) was in the employ of Swift & Co. at Third and Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas, as Refrigeration Engineer; in fact, he had charge of the entire Austin office. A baby daughter, Clara, was born in December, 1906; in Feburary, 1908; Frank joined partnership with James Peterson Plumbing Company; however, he soon realized that he did not care for the plumbing business (although it was profitable). In the meantime Armour & Co. of Chicago offered Frank a position with their company. He accepted and the Robinson family moved from Austin, Texas, to Shreveport, Louisiana. The move was at the expense of the company and he took charge of Armour & Co's plant there on June 1, 1908. The family moved to Shreveport and in September, 1908, a second daughter, Frances Ruth, was born. Just at that time, the entire city of Shreveport was paving all their streets and most all alleys.
