WILLIAM BARRON served as Captain in the Revolutionary War and was at Augusta and fell into the hands of the Tories and through their instigation, was beheaded by the Indians. They then placed his head in the center of the city where it remained until the Whigs recaptured the city about 3 weeks afterwards. He was hated by the British and the Tories for his bold and daring attacks on them. Therefore they had previously offered a considerable reward for him. She was born about 1742. She died in 1796 in Wilkes County, Georgia. Notes for William Barron: References to William Barron have not been located by researchers in any contemporary documents. The first mention of his family is in a 1784 Wilkes County, GA, land plat for David Irwin. A neighbor is identified as Widow Barron. Later records confirm that Widow Barron was Prudence Barron. The only source naming Prudence's husband is John Davis Garrard, a great grandson who documented some of his family heritage.
