  Town called Janesville. His dad was Eugene F. DeLisle (census taker wrote DeLysle). Eugene DeLysle age 73 b. Vermont - Father b. Canada/French - Mother b. Canada/French. So Eugene was b. ca. 1857 Found them as early as 1900 still in Rock Co Wisc at Janesville. Other children of Eugene and Bertha: Hattie b. June 1889 Wisc; Dora b. Jan 1891 Wisc; Nancy b. ca. 1902 Wisc.; George b. ca. 1905 Wisc; and Romanzy b. 1909 Wisc. - The 1910 Census has Romanzy listed as age 10 months old. Census is dated April 23, 1910, so Romanzy was born then Summer of 1909. Don't have younger children's accurate birth info cause only the earlier 1900 Census gave birth month and year as well as actual age. - In 1910 Census census taker wrote that Bertha had 6 children so far, but only 5 were living. ----- Eugene was listed as a Foreman, Cotton Mill from the 1900 Census thru 1920 Census. At the 1930 Census he was retired - age 73. He probably worked in the same position earlier in the 1890 or even 1880 Census. ---- Problem there are almost no preserved 1890 Census recs at all - Have to skip that year. ----Eugene and Bertha stated in 1920 that they owned their home - mortgage was clear - All the census recs stated that they all spoke English and could all read and write - This was Eugene and Bertha's 1st marriage - The 1930 Census had a category that seems strange to us now, but it asked everyone if they owned a radio. Not everyone did, believe it or not. However, the DeLisle's did. They did not live on a farm, but in the city. Eugene was not a Veteran ---- So they lived in Janesville, Rock Co Wisc for at least 30 years. Eugene was in the Management of the Cotton Mill and Bertha was Homemaker. There were no more DeLisles there. Rock Co Wisc is on the southern Illinois-Wisc border. Close to Lake Michigan. If you would drive from (13:22:16) Judy Rockhill: Rock Co northeastward, you would come to Michigan's north west boundary. Lake Michigan separates Wisc from Mich. --- Have found DeLisle as DeLysle, Deslile, Dilisle, Dilille. --- Also found in 1870 Rutland Co Vermont (SW Vermont bordering NY State) this listing: S. Dilisle age 38 b. Canada - Both p's b. Canada - Works for a shoemaker - Lives with the Moses Duchano family. Moses age 28 b. Canada, a carpenter ------ Then 1860 Vermont Franklin co found Gilbert Delisle age 25 b. Canada living with Orville Flint family ---- 1860 Vermont Franklin Co I found Joseph Delisle age 18 b. Canada. ----------- 1850 Vermont Franklin Co Richford Twp I found Gilbert Dilille family: Gilbert age 40 b. Canada Farmer - Wife Amelia age 37 - several ch you can see names later, but there is Gilbert age 16 and Joseph age 7. I think the whole family, except Gilbert and Joseph--between the 1850 Census and the 1860 Census. I'll talk with you about it. Franklin Co Vermont is located right on the Canadian Border. When I went to Canada with RF and we drove from Idaho, there was no river boundary, just a guard station. So, it was probably nothing for the DeLille family to settle in the U.S. Talk to you later.
