George Fitzsimmons

Notes:

J.P. 16 yrs, Hillsdale Co Michigan and US Senator and State Representative, Democrat.

George served as a private, enlisting at Lancaster, Penn. November, 7, 1814. Capt. Thomas Horell's Company 16th US Infantry. At Battle of Cook's Hill on Lyons Creek, Upper Canada, he received a gunshot wound on the knee. Discharged June 1815, Pensioned from disability June 1, 1815. -- Page 111 Soldiers of the War of 1812 who died in Michigan (Compiled by Mrs. Alice Turner Miller, Ithaca, Michigan 1962.)

George married Lydia Raplee on 10 Mar 1816 in Dundee, Reading, Schuyler, NY, USA. Lydia (daughter of Andrew Raplee / Roblyer) was born on 24 Apr 1799 in Dundee, Yates, NY, USA; died on 1 Nov 1879 in Reading, Hillsdale, MI, USA; was buried in Reading Methodist Cemetery, Reading, Hillsdale, MI, USA.
